One of the noblest jobs is being a teacher. In Indonesia, the term “ Pahlawan tanpa tanda jasa” , directly translated to ‘a hero without medals’, is commonly used to refer to a teacher. Teacher is one of many professions that most people look up to because of what they do to help the generations to come. In bigger cities, like Jakarta, Tangerang and Bogor, the need for International English teachers is always high. It is not merely because they can afford it, they usually want to be ready to embrace wider opportunities to study or work internationally. Getting enough exposure by conversing with English speakers from different countries and cultures, helps them build up confidence and language skills.
As an International English teacher, they should see the demands as a golden ticket, not only to add to their resume, but also the chance to experience living in a foreign country. Usually the employment period starts from 12 months, and during the employment, teachers can find a lot of chances to see the rest of the country while they are in the country.

A huge number of schools and institutions are willing to hire people who have had the experience of teaching English to people from different countries and have the proper training to handle students of different kinds. It can also be a proof of their ability to adapt, learn, and develop.

It is easier to pick up some language when staying in another country. By staying in another country they are exposed to at least daily language that is useful for daily life. Asking for direction, bargaining, and greetings are the most basic language to name some. The longer they stay, the more proficient they are in speaking the language.
With all the perks, working as an international English teacher comes with its drawbacks. Living away from their family might sound dreadful to some people, not to mention the time difference resulting in the difficulties to communicate. However, once they are used to the time difference and being away from their family, working in another country is a great experience for those who love challenges.
